At Sea... Cruising the English Channel
Another day of cruising and enjoying the blissfully warm European Spring!
The English Channel is about 350 miles long and separates southern England from northern France. William the Conqueror crossed these waters to become King of England after the Norman Conquest of 1066. The most triumphant crossing unfolded on D-Day when Allied Troops landed on Normandy's shores. The channel's narrowest point stretches about 20 miles between Dover and Calais. Here you can glimpse Dover's famed cliffs, seen from a distance they appear to be a long white strip resting gently on the horizon. Traversing this historic waterway, we were also able to see Cherbourg, perched on the end of France's Cotentin Peninsula, whose southern shores lead to the historic walled city of Saint-Malo and the monastic island of Mont Saint-Michel.
What did I do (after viewing these beautiful sights)? I naturally headed up to the 7th Deck for a 3-mile run. I enjoyed basking in the sunshine and people watching from all points on deck today!

What else exciting could possibly happen on a calming and beautiful day at sea? Well... The coast guard asked our ship to participate in an on-board training exercise via helicopter. Who says you cant find entertainment in the middle of the sea?!
